A missionary is someone who has been sent to a foreign country to teach people about Christianity and persuade them to become Christians.

In computer science and data management, a commit is the making of a set of tentative changes permanent, marking the end of a transaction and providing Durability to ACID transactions. A commit is an act of committing. The record of commits is called the commit log. In database systems, ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, Durability) refers to a standard set of properties that guarantee database transactions are processed reliably. ACID is especially concerned with how a database recovers from any failure that might occur while processing a transaction.

Usually, the assembly sends matters into a committee as a way to explore them more fully than would be possible if the assembly itself were considering them.
